40mph

Saxtead Parish Council is taking positive action to reduce traffic speed from 60mph to 40mph in response to residents' concerns about vehicles' excessive speed along the green near the Mill and on Marlborough Road.

The initiative, costing £14,000, has received significant support from our County Councillor Stephen Burroughes who has generously agreed to cover three-quarters of the expenses. The other quarter of the costs will come from residents through their precept payments.

Suffolk County Council has provisionally approved the project, reflecting its recognition of the community's concerns. A residents' consultation should have taken place in autumn but this has been delayed due to SCC changing their Highways contractor.

Residents are encouraged to actively participate in the consultation, providing valuable input on the proposed speed reduction measures.  Saxtead Parish Council, backed by Stephen Burroughes and with SCC's provisional approval, is committed to enhancing road safety in our village.  Resident engagement in the consultation process is vital to ensure the project does go ahead.
