The Queen's Platinum Jubilee event held on 4th June was a wonderful time for bringing the whole village together in joyous celebration, especially our enthusiastic rendition of the National Anthem.. We are grateful to our Jubilee Team who worked hard to ensure everything ran so smoothly on the day. We were even blessed by good weather. The original traditional location for the event was on the Village Green but a burst water service pipe flooded the green in that area so Nick and Ruth at the Old Mill House Pub stepped in to facilitate the event. Their kind assistance solved many health and safety problems with catering, insurance and toilets. The tug-of-war competition for the Cullingford Cup saw Little Green showing off its big muscles and going home with the cup. Moving from cups to unique and beautifully crafted Jubilee mugs which were given to all the village children. Many were sold on the day but there are a few of these mugs still available at only £5.00.

As part of the extended Jubilee celebrations two Jubilee Oaks have been planted, one on the former cricket pitch and the other on Little Green. The Rev Chris Davey blessed the trees on behalf of the village following the Table Top Sale on 16th July which was another very successful event where many bargains changed hands.
We should also mention the Village Fete as yet another occasion in which the village has gathered together with a wider community of bargain hunters to enjoy meeting each other whilst also raising £1160 for the Church.  The church also hosted a series of very well attended Jubilee lectures covering subjects from magnetism which is very attractive, to becoming a British ambassador!. Once again our thanks goes to all those who worked hard to make sure these events were such a success.
