Following the local elections on 2nd May, the Parish Council currently has a shortfall of Councillors. Anyone who would be interested in joining Saxtead Parish Council should contact the clerk, Lydia Kirk. The Parish Council has until 24th June in which it can co-opt on to the Council without the same requirements for mid-term ‘casual vacancies’.

Would you like to become a Parish Councillor?

There are many reasons why people stand for election as a Parish Councillor. Often it is because they want:

  • to speak on behalf of their local community and to help local people and represent their needs and concerns
  • to help shape the future of their village for the benefit of all
  • to offer their personal or professional skills to assist the work of the Council

Councillors are elected for 4 year terms of office and if you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor, why not take a look at  'It takes all sorts' (NALC Publication).

Following the uncontested election, Saxtead Parish Council wishes to fill the 3 vacancies of Councillor by co-option at its Parish Council meeting on the 4th June 2019.

We are a friendly and welcoming Council and offer training and support to new Councillors.
